Healthy Choices

We have been taking a look at the short-term and long-term risks of smoking and alcohol. This week you will be reading a short article talking about the risks associated with alcohol. After reading the article you will post a comment below. Imagine someone offered you a drink of alcohol. How would you say no? Respond to this fictional person in a comment. Be sure to include all the proper punctuation that we have been looking at over the last few weeks. ( " , . ! ? " )

After posting your comment, you will be able to visit a wonderful website with great math games. After clicking the link start with Fractions Shoot, and Equivalent Fractions Matching as your first two games.

Smoking Stinks

On Tuesday we had a class discussion about the short-term and long-term effects of smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol.

Today we will be looking more carefully at the risks associated with cigarette smoke. Check out this article and post a comment below. Your comment should include a piece of information that you think all kids should know about smoking.

After posting your comment, you can choose between visiting this multiplication game, or going to IXL math. If you choose to go to IXL, select your grade, and go to one of their division games.

Practicing Our Punctuation

Tuesday's lesson in our Writer's Toolbox had us learning about the importance of punctuation. One little comma can completely change the meaning of a sentence!

Today we will be looking at some fun ways of practicing with punctuation. Our first game has you select the appropriate type of punctuation and aim your paint canon where it needs to go. Our second game gives you the chance to compare two similar sentences with the commas in different places. Click on the sentence with the proper punctuation. Our last game is called the Comma Chameleon, and he is hungry for some delicious punctuation.

Remember to consult your Writer's Toolbox for clues to help with these three games.

Have fun!
